First impressions: a spacious twin room — even after we added one extra bed — clean, modern, and has that familiar feel that makes you settled in very quickly.
Built in 1982, The Papandayan Hotel stands out in the Bandung area with its modern, elegant art deco look. Although it has been existing for more than three decades, the hotel does not look its age. In fact, all their rooms, suites and facilities including a spa, sauna, kids club, fitness centre, music club, and various F&B outlets are maintained with high 5-star quality.
When we arrived, we were greeted by the cordial staff who immediately assisted us in checking in. Right from the lobby itself, it is evident that we’re in for a grandiose stay. And true enough, the hotel impressed us with its old-world glamour, top-notch amenities, and personalised quality service.
If you ever plan a getaway in Bandung with your family, friends or colleagues, stay in The Papandayan Hotel. With its accessibility to prime attractions, high-class facilities, and authentic Javanese hospitality, you’ll get your money’s worth in this luxury hotel!
The Classic
True to its name, the 34 sqm The Classic room wowed us with its simple and classic interior. It gave us the maximum comfort and relaxation we needed after a day’s activities exploring the city. The comfy, spotless twin beds also made it hard for us to get up every morning. We found the location of our room the most practical since it was on the first floor. It saved us time whenever we wanted to step out of the hotel. But what we appreciate the most here is that despite being the most basic of all the room types, The Classic room has a luxurious bathroom with a separate standing shower and bathtub. Who wouldn’t love that?
The Premier
The Premier room is as spacious as The Classic room but you may get a garden, street or mountain view from here depending on which side of the hotel you are in. Aside from that, you may also enjoy complimentary high-speed internet access, bottled water, and complimentary three kinds of soft drinks from the minibar. What a treat!
The Ambassador
On top of its spacious living room, posh furniture, and an exquisite bedroom, The Ambassador room comes with an exclusive access to the Ambassador’s Lounge. With a combination of modern design and old world charm, this majestic lounge offers intimacy, comfort, and exclusivity. Guests staying here also get access to Jacuzzi & Sauna, Mini Bar, and Afternoon tea starting from 3pm. Now that’s what you call a real VIP treatment.
The Suite
Elegance is written all over The Suite room. What makes it stand out from the rest are the room features offering utmost privacy and relaxation. These include a separate bedroom with a soft and spotless king size bed, a lounge room to have small conversations with your loved ones or friends, a luxurious bathroom, and additional toilet. Ahhh, what a sweet life!
Presidential Suite
Located on the fifth floor, The Presidential Suite offers supreme luxury but with the comfort of home. Who wouldn’t fall in love with its elegant bedroom, an adjoining living room, a full kitchen, a stylish dining area, and a 24-hour butler to assist you all throughout your stay? But what we absolutely admire here though is the relaxing view of the mountains and the pool which added more tranquillity to the already lavish accommodation. Pick the Presidential Suite and experience what it’s like to live like a royal family.
#1 Maintain a balanced lifestyle while on vacation
Your active and healthy lifestyle starts or continues in the hotel’s wide selection of wellness services at the Eidelweiss Spa. Their Jacuzzi has two kinds of tubs/pools. One is filled with heated water where you can enjoy hydrotherapy and simply relax, while the other is a cold water immersion for cryotherapy. Cryotherapy helps you reduce muscle inflammation and gives your muscles a quicker recovery time. Aside from this, the Steam & Sauna will also help your body relax physically and mentally by relaxing your joints, reducing stress, raising your metabolism and even easing symptoms of a cold. For skin hydration, the Steam Room would be better for those who have dry skin, and the Sauna for those who have oily skin.
The Fitness Centre will also cover all your physical activity needs, they have the newest technology and equipment to make your exercises easier. If you want to get pampered, their Hair & Beauty Salon offers a range of beauty treatments done by their beauty team of experts.
#2 Indulge in a range of sumptuous local and international cuisines
The hotel offers many culinary options and F&B outlets for their guests. The first is Mirten Lounge, which is a place where you can hold informal meetings, and enjoy cocktails and lounge entertainment. The second is the HB Grill Garden; this is a sun-roofed courtyard where you get to admire the mountain view while dining comfortably with loved ones in a casual environment. Another dining area with a casual ambience is Pago. It’s an interactive open live cooking kitchen. You get to enjoy the buffet and a la carte menu in a unique dining venue that seats 198 people.
Your fourth option would be The Deli, a patisserie that will speak to the creative soul in all of us. It’s designed to look like a lush tropical garden and where you can indulge in desserts, light meals and signature beverages. If you’re into music, you’ll find the TP Stage club to be a great venue to socialize and enjoy musical stage performances. It’s also where musicians and artists launch their work so you’ll definitely expand your network of the local art community in this club. Lastly, there’s the Tropical Garden which you can find at the centre of the building. Not only can you dine, but you can also take lots of lovely photos since they feature tropical plants and an artificial waterfall.

A Jazz hotel
In the last couple of years, The Papandayan has identified itself as a Jazz hotel. In fact, weekly jazz performances featuring local and international jazz musicians are held every week. Not only that, a Jazz festival also happens every October, and it is now in its fourth year this 2018.
