Deluxe Balcony Room

Unlike the Deluxe Room, the Deluxe Balcony Room of this hotel in the city centre comes with the inclusion of a fully-furnished balcony that’s dressed in accents of grey and brown against the pop of greenery from nature. Complete with rattan-woven furniture for lounging around with a book and mug of coffee, or for the clinking of cocktail glasses as the evening backons, we found the balcony to be a welcoming space for some fresh air.

The Deluxe Balcony room in this city hotel is simply ideal for a romantic staycation or a weekend retreat with your best friend. Spend the night chatting under the stars before stepping back in for a good night’s rest, or sleep in till noon and have brunch with a view. Other than an adjacent balcony, the room comes befitted with coffee and tea making facilities, mini fridge and high-speed WiFi. To top it all off? A lavish king-sized bed and a pillow menu of hard and soft pillows await as well! For a no-frills room that has it all – the Deluxe Balcony Room is definitely it.

Tuck into delectable dishes at Local Restaurant and Bar

We were incredibly impressed with the menu choices, which featured stellar highlights such as the Local Nasi Lemak, 30 Ben Beef Burger and Asian Vongole amongst a dizzying array of other Asian and Western options. The fusion dishes were impeccable and flavoursome! We also loved the delicious sides, namely the Spam Fries and the Har Cheong Wings – absolutely yummy. This in-house restaurant also boasts a plethora of mocktails. Go for the must-try specialty known as the Local Freeze! The distinct sour plum flavour was something we really savoured down to the last sip.

To round it up, the warm ambience courtesy of the anodized trellis ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows made the informal space very comfortable to dine in. Whether you choose the hearty buffet spread and aromatic coffee pairing or opt for the easy breezy all-day dining, your stay at this hotel in Singapore will be nothing short of fantastic.

Unique Rafflesia motifs dot the interiors

Hotel is named after Bengkulu, Indonesia

You may find Bencoolen to be quite a quirky name for a district. Here’s a brief history lesson to enlighten you! Bencoolen was named after Bengkulu, which was located on the west coast of Sumatra, by the British in 1685. When founder Sir Stamford Raffles came to Singapore in 1819, several Bencoolen men accompanied him during his sojourn and settled in that particular area. Now known as Bencoolen Street, this precinct was named based on this significant historic reference.

Reduction in car traffic by 50%

In a bid to be more environmentally friendly, the hotel has seen a reduction in traffic lanes from four to just two lanes. This is to facilitate more pedestrian space where people can walk or ride their bicycles hassle-free. A pretty awesome effort right?
