Estadia Hotel is humble, yet with plenty to boast about. While it might look simple, the richness of Nyonya culture permeates throughout the Peranakan home-style contemporary hotel. From the flooring to the ceiling, the wallpapers and the drapery, everything reminded us of the show The Little Nyonya. Even then, the hotel is modern as it is traditional. The contemporary twist of the classic ethnic elements ensured that even our inner pampered princesses were well taken care of.
Situated on the doorstep to all of Melaka’s popular tourist spots, you can jet-set around town with ease! It’s so incredibly convenient, even Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall is right outside your door.
Nothing was too over the top, and everything was just what we needed for a quick getaway together. Whether you’re here for a special celebration or you’re on a short vacation looking to explore Melaka, you’ll definitely find one of the many exquisitely furnished rooms perfect for the picking.
There might not be certain amenities such as a swimming pool, but the rooms were so lavish that we didn’t feel the need for one anyway. The staff and concierge were also so friendly and ensured that all our needs were met. Everything was handled so smoothly, we were checked into our rooms well before we realised it. Anyone would have felt apprehensive about the rooms just looking at the pictures alone, and we weren’t sure what to expect ourselves either. Call us pampered, but we’re more used to staying in suites during our travel. However, the moment the door swung open, we were immediately greeted by a warm and cosy interior that was nothing short of welcoming.
The large king-sized bed might take up most of the living space, but lying back on it was like lying on a bed of sheep – soft, fluffy and warm. We were completely engulfed by the blankets, and very easily taken to cloud nine.
To top off it all off, the TV is strategically placed so you don’t have to leave the comfort of the bed (and trust us, you really don’t want to) to enjoy the screen. It’s just perfect for cuddling with your spouse or huddling under the blankets with a friend.
For something a little more expansive, the Studio Suite offers two bedrooms, two toilets and two TVs! That’s double the fun for everyone!
Even with two toilets, the marble bathroom is more than spacious enough. We’re huge fans of rain showers, so seeing a rain shower fitted in the bathroom had us all excited. It is, after all, one of the best ways to wash away all the grime and fatigue for the day.
Now, this is perfect for the whole family. Apart from an extra adjoining room and a small seating area, Family Suites also have an additional kitchenette. The mod-cons here are more complete than some four-star joints, with an endless list of amenities such as a minibar, tea-making facilities and a safe.
All the rooms offer a choice between sea view or city view, but we highly recommend opting for the former to enjoy the expansive vista over the Straits of Melaka. Not to mention, even with the hustle and bustle of the city below, the room offered unparalleled privacy as though we were in our own homes. Worried about noise from the streets? We couldn’t even hear a peep.
At 62sqm, you could probably live in the Deluxe Suite. Like all the rooms in this hotel, this charming and spacious suite is immaculately designed with a splash of contemporary flair over the running Peranakan theme. The carpeted rooms paint the room a modern colour that’s contrasted against the brightly coloured feature walls and patterned wallpapers.
Even with the consistent theme, each room had a different chic interpretation with the variety of latticework, batik and framed images of Peranakan ceramics. There was no stopping the visual feast for our eyes, and of course, our cameras quickly filled up with plenty of photos to show off on Facebook.
If you’re looking for a place to stay with all your friends, the Estadia Premier Suite is the perfect accommodation to host everyone! With two bedrooms and a living hall, there’s more than enough space for everyone to spread out and roll about in front of one of the three TVs.
The room is extensive, and we definitely loved the feeling of space around us. All of us could retreat to our own corners when we were tired of interaction and comfortably relax just anywhere we wanted to. The dim cosy lights also made it really easy for us to drift off into a comfortable sleep at the drop of a hat.

No vacation is complete without a gastronomic adventure of epic proportions! Makan Nyonya Restaurant, the hotel’s very own food-stop, takes you on a culinary journey as you relax and indulge in their display of fine food varieties and thirst-quenchers. The endless array of colourful Peranakan dishes are sure to have you glued to the table. And let’s not forget the highly-quintessential palate-pleasing daily breakfast buffets from 6.30am to 10.30am, lunch from 12pm to 4pm, and dinner from 6.30pm to 10.30pm too!
Even if you’re not in a mood for a heavy meal, just adjacent to Makan Nyonya Restaurant is Baba’s Lounge. Hit up some tasty refreshing drinks while relishing in the cosy and contemporary atmosphere. Perhaps spend an afternoon here with your laptop and you won’t even realise how fast time flies. Open from 12pm to 11pm everyday.
After gorging on all the glorious food the hotel has to offer, it’s time to get off your behind and work those glutes! Open daily from 6am to 10pm, their smart-equipped Fitness Studio will have you sweating buckets in no time. If you’re looking to feel the burn, rest assured this is the best place to kick your routine into a higher gear for a more intensive workout.
Whether you’re looking to save a dollar or two, or if you’re just plain lazy, you’d be more than happy to know all guests get to enjoy free shuttle services to all the nearby heritage sites such as A Famosa and Christ Church.
Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall is located not even a stone’s throw from the hotel, and Mahkota Parade just slightly further. For the shopaholics, this means an all-you-can-shop fest, and if even that is not enough, you’ve just got to take a short bus ride to get to Jonker Walk.

While the hotel provides complimentary parking, for the sake and ease of a safe journey, we’d recommend taking a Grab or taxi to the hotel instead. It’s also worth pointing out that there’s an additional tax for non-Malaysian residents for using Malaysian conveyances such as hotels that costs MYR 10.00 per accommodation per night.
Melaka might be the less popular counterpart to places like Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, but there are no shortages of worthy attractions to be found. Luckily for you, everything’s within easy reach from Estadia Hotels.
