Living in Manila can be such a tire after some time. The excitement we had coming here for the first time seemed to have dwindled over the years. One of the ways we relive that feeling is going on a weekend trip to a nearby province. This time, we decided to go to Batangas. Where else did we stay than in Pico Sands Hotel, one of the most talked about four-star hotels in the town of Nasugbu.
Pico Sands Hotel is located within the premier seaside development of Hamilo Coast by SM Prime Holdings Inc. Despite its fame, the hotel manages to keep its exclusive vibe and it didn’t take long before we fell in love with it.
The entire property is spotless and has a hint of freshness, something we always look for in hotels. The staff handled us like royalty and we found it hard to get used to that kind of attention. And just as we thought things couldn’t get any more exciting, our eyes caught the stunning man-made lagoon with the mountain views in the background.
Will we stay here another time? Of course! Pico Sands Hotel remains to be our favourite hotel in Batangas. We bet you’ll share the same sentiment when you experience it yourself!

Pico Sands Hotel is located in the coastal town of Nasugbu in Batangas. It is less than 80 km from Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
You may take a 90-minute drive via the Ternate-Nasugbu Road. Start driving at the Coastal Road from the SM Mall of Asia Complex. Go straight through the CAVITEX exit to Kawit using Bacao Road and Tejero. Take the road from the Petron gas station to Tanza and Naic before reaching Ternate. From here, follow the main road to Puerto Azul. Turn left to the Kaybiang tunnel until you get to the Hamilo Coast main gate.
Another option would be going to Tagaytay via the SLEX. However, this will cover a distance of 133 km and almost doubles the travel time.
Aside from Pico de Loro Cove, which was named after Mt. Pico de Loro, Hamilo Coast houses twelve other beautiful coves. The easiest to access is the Santelmo Cove. The hotel actually offers a tour of the area for its guests. It has one of the best beach fronts in the entire Hamilo Coast development area and is visited by Olive Ridley and Green Sea Turtles for nesting.
Next to Santelmo are the Subli and Etayo Coves. Subli’s name was derived from a local dance celebrated during town festivals every May. Etayos, on the other hand, shares Pico de Loro’s reputation of being a marine reserve. Hence, fishing here is prohibited. The other coves are Balibago, Arkaya, Papaya, Neela, Dorado, Patungan, Bucanita, Limbones and Baybay.
If you’re up for some hiking, Mt. Pico de Loro is only less than 20 km from Pico Sands Hotel. Outside the community, more beach options await including those in the nearby towns of Lian and Calatagan. Tagaytay is also about 70 km from the hotel. The city is perfect for couples and families who like to experience a slightly different environment.
