Last weekend, we decided to take a step back from our busy schedules and booked ourselves a weekend getaway at The District Boracay. Sure, beach resorts are a dime a dozen but the District Boracay really caught our eye. Located right in the middle of White Beach, The District Boracay boasts 48 spacious and relaxing rooms, all with their own private verandahs.
Apart from that, little did we know that we were up for an awesome gastronomical adventure! We absolutely love the dining options at The District Boracay. From pizza to brunch buffets, we basically ate our way through the weekend. However, what we loved most about the District Boracay was its excellent service. Good service always makes a difference, and we truly appreciate the staff who ran up to help us with our luggage. Plus, they are very attentive to our needs. With their hand-on-heart signature pose, The District Boracay’s staff all went the extra mile to give us that special royalty treatment.
We had the luxury to stay in this beauty of a suite, which offered loft-type accommodation comprising floor-to-ceiling glass windows, two verandahs (one on each floor), and a really comfy daybed.
Staying in a loft not only gave us more space than what a resort room normally offers, but we felt as if we had our own apartment all to ourselves! The Premier Suite basically has chic and luxurious written all over it.
We love how The District Boracay has lots of options for larger groups of travellers – in the Deluxe Room, we could either choose from two queen-size beds or one king-size bed.
Not to mention, connecting rooms made up of one queen deluxe and one king deluxe are also available for your large family or your entire squad.
This room is definitely #honeymoongoals for any couple on a romantic staycation. We wished we brought our significant other with us, but for now, we’d just be content with the prospect of a second trip!
The Premier room features one king-sized bed, its own private verandah, and (on some rooms) a double vanity sink and a comfy daybed.
It’s definitely more fun when everyone is together! We recommend the Deluxe Suite, which is perfect for the whole family.
Aside from the king-size bed in the master bedroom, the suite offers a living room with a daybed, pantry, and its own private verandah. If you’re the type who likes having lots of space, the Deluxe Suite is the one for you.
Boracay is one of the most famous party destinations in the Philippines, and The District Boracay goes all out to accommodate that! It is the only resort on the island that allows guests to choose either a breakfast or brunch buffet as part of the regular amenities, which is perfect for party animals who want to spend more time in bed nursing a hangover the morning after. We must say, this indeed came in very handy after we spent a night bar-hopping. At the Star Lounge, you can even choose to have brunch until 1 in the afternoon! We got the chance to sample the bestsellers from their a la carte menu. We especially loved their beef salpicao, the perfectly-made ribeye steak, and their bagnet couldn’t be any more authentic! Their a la carte dishes come in generous servings, yet are also easy on the pocket.
For those who would rather stay in the hotel, there’s also a roof deck bar with a Happy Hour from 5pm to 8pm (which is longer than usual!) where we enjoyed up to 40% off of local beers and regular cocktail drinks.
The District Boracay is the ONLY resort on the island that has the Meduse Shisha, which are exquisitely-designed shisha pipes that feature a hand-made Bohemian glass corpus. We didn’t try the Meduse Shisha this time around but we’ll definitely be back for it!
What is island life without a little pampering? The Upperhouse Spa takes pride in its signature massage which is a combination of unique wave-like strokes inspired from Hawaii and other techniques. We gave it a try, and admittedly drifted off to sleep halfway – it was THAT relaxing!
One of the best things we adored about staying at The District Boracay was its prime location. Not only is it in the middle of White Beach, the sand and ocean were literally right outside its doorstep! While there are tons of things to do on the island like water activities, ATV rides, and diving, we chose to take it easy and simply spent our days relaxing by the beach and enjoying the sound of the waves and the famous Boracay breeze. A staycation at The District Boracay definitely gave us that well-deserved break, and we have the sun-kissed tan to prove it!
For that extra bronzed glow, take a dip in the long lap pool after relaxing at the beach. There are lots of sun loungers by the pool, which are great for a bout of reading.
We had just as much fun indoors as we did outdoors, even when we took a break from the beach.
We were delighted to find out that The District Boracay is a promoter for responsible and sustainable tourism; in fact, it is the only resort on the island that uses solar power as its main source of energy! All guest rooms in the resort have energy-saving devices installed and have a complete set of eco-friendly room amenities. What’s more is that they are using refillable water bottles instead of plastic bottles in guest rooms. The District Boracay has really constructed everything with the environment in mind. And for tree-hugging individuals like us, staying at The District Boracay was truly a dream come true!
Luxurious facilities, spacious rooms, and prime location are all great incentives to stay at The District Boracay. But what makes the resort special is its excellent service and obliging staff that started to feel like family not long after we arrived. Everywhere we went, we were warmly welcomed by the genuinely smiling staff who were ever-ready with their signature hand-on-heart pose. Ah, we wished we never had to leave!
It is the small things that really make a difference! The District Boracay went waaaay past the extra mile to make sure that we have the best getaway on the island. From welcome drinks to cookies and sweets, massage samples, and even personalised letters, we sure were pampered beyond belief!
You can get to Boracay via two airports: Caticlan or Kalibo. Guests travelling via Caticlan can avail of the free airport-hotel transfer which is perfect for a hassle-free vacation. However, if in case you miss the free transfer, you can take a short tricycle ride or walk to the Caticlan Jetty Port and board a boat to Boracay island. If you are travelling via Kalibo, take a two-hour van or bus to the Caticlan Jetty Port.
The boat from mainland Caticlan will dock either in Cagban or Tambisaan Port. From there, you can rent a tricycle going to The District Boracay. Because the resort is right in front of the beach, you’ll have to take a short walk from the highway to the shore. However, don’t let this walk put you off – the route is beautiful, and will be the perfect introduction to your weekend getaway.
Boracay is one of the most visited spots in the Philippines, and rightly so! From parties to water sports to staycations, the island has a bit of something for every type of traveller. The District Boracay is located in Station 2 which is right smack in the middle of the beach scene, making it very convenient for exploring White Beach. Station 2 is a great location for party-goers, and trust us when we say parties in Boracay are the BEST! However, not everything is about partying – there are still parts of the beach for lazy beachgoers who want to revel in their own bubble of zen.
During the day, there are lots of water activities you can try. Banana boats, jet skis, diving... You name it; Boracay has it! We also recommend visiting the market for a fresh seafood meal, or shopping till you drop at D’Mall.
