An all-inclusive beachfront Bali resort where modern luxury marries traditional Balinese culture
Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali is an all-inclusive family-friendly resort set in the quiet Tanjung Benoa at the tip of Nusa Dua resort area on the southern part of Bali, Indonesia. This 380-room retreat provides fun and relaxing daily recreation for all ages. It has free non-motorised water sports, a fitness centre, a family-friendly free-form pool with an ingenious swim-up bar, a kiddie club and outdoor playground, and a unique spa featuring the most relaxing Aquamedic Pool – a hydrotherapy pool with heated seawater that provides an ultimate rejuvenating experience. On top of that, each of the resort’s spacious rooms has a distinct view of the property, which in itself is a feast for the eyes owing to the fact that the resort is perched in a perfect location overlooking the hypnotic Indian Ocean.
We didn’t have much expectations for this trip, but lo and behold, the rustic grandeur of the property, especially the lobby, blown us over as soon as we arrived at the property. The tropical ambience and the prominent four-storey buildings that incorporate modern architecture with traditional Balinese elements struck us with an unexpected awe factor. The extensive lobby with a captivating waterfall complete with a seemingly naturally growing fauna gave us a real holiday feel even before reaching our accommodation. We can’t help but wonder how we could have missed this slice of paradise during our previous Bali trips.
Our 20-minute airport ride was even made easier by the most accommodating staff upon arrival at the property. The welcome drink was oh-so-refreshing. The wet towel they gave provided us with a much-needed facial refreshment and the welcome flower garland made us feel like an esteemed guest. The cordial staff never left us with a dull moment during our whole stay at the resort.
From the first day of our stay down to our last, the whole resort staff made sure that we could have the greatest leisure experience of our lives right in the Island of the Gods.
Deluxe Garden View Room
Our accommodation of choice was nothing short of spectacular, to say the least. It was apparent the moment we stepped into it that it was indeed designed for comfort: spacious, inviting, and it captured the simplicity of a truly relaxing environment. It was furnished with a super king-sized bed and a single bed just the way we liked it. The opulence of wooden furniture inside perfectly complemented the island breeze permeated with the fresh woody scent of the lush greeneries outside. The calmness of our room was elating. We love everything in this accommodation, but the thing we enjoyed the most was the time we spent together at the front porch. It gave us time to share a lot of stories, drinks, and yes, cuddle time! Grand Mirage’s Deluxe Garden View Room rocks!
Deluxe Ocean View Room
As soon as we arrived at the resort, we already had this lingering question in our heads – How does it feel to be in a big-ticket accommodation? So without hesitation, we asked one staff member if we could at least just take a peek at what’s behind the doors of other vacant rooms, to which she surprisingly granted right away! Our first stop was the Deluxe Ocean View Room.
We haven’t seen much difference from our own accommodation there, except of course for the vast ocean instead of the garden in front of us. When we opened the private balcony, we were immediately transfixed by how stunning the ocean view was. The combined gentle whisper of the breeze and the sound of the waves kissing the shore were a lullaby to our ears. It was magical.
Family Studio Bunk Bed
The Family Studio Bunk Bed is a bit bigger than deluxe accommodations. Apart from the slight size difference, the composition of the studio was a complete deviation from its contemporaries. The studio’s modern interior – complete with modern amenities and a king, trundle, and bunk beds – was striking. An unmistakable earth tone highlights the white background of its walls. But the most remarkable feature of the studio was the trundle bed. It provides usability without claiming too much space to its own. Just like our accommodation, it also has a beautiful garden view which guests can enjoy from a private balcony separated from the main living quarters by a sliding glass door.
Family Studio Queen Bed
It is basically a twin of Family Studio Bunk Bed. As the name implies, it has two queen beds. The spacious wardrobe provides ample space for four guests. It also has a balcony giving you another nice view of the luscious property garden from another angle. The verdant scenery outside is a sight to behold.
Don’t get us wrong. This suite is not just for kids. Bigger than the Family Studio, the suite has a master’s bedroom and a children’s room. The latter has a bunk bed and a trundle. What a kid-friendly space! It has two large bathrooms with separate showers, one of them is dedicated to the children’s room. If that is not cool enough, the suite has its own mini bar, too! That alone is a winner. We can only imagine ourselves grabbing our favourite drinks from the mini bar and lounge at the balcony with a relaxing view of the gardens in front.
The Junior Suite invokes a graceful attitude. The combination of subdued earth colours and warm tones inside will surely prep the mind for another fun day at the resort. We liked how the rooms were arranged. It definitely diffused a distinct vibe from Kids Suite. We would be happy to stay here with our kids the next time we visit Grand Mirage. Of course, there was the private balcony accessible from the master’s bedroom that gave us yet another pleasant view of the surrounding property gardens.
If you are looking for an adventure inside of your room, hop into this accommodation. The shouting feminine colours of fuschias and aquamarines utterly caught us off-guard. It perfectly captured the vibrant and glitzy glow of Tinseltown sets. Think about tiaras, gold leaf inlays, glamorous frames, and intricately designed tiles, things that you can only see on TV, they are all there!
Ocean View Suite
This suite cries luxury! The private balcony with the spectacular ocean view is a thing to beat. The lovely king-sized bed and the overall artistry of the accommodation is so impressive that we wanted to stay even just for a little bit longer. The bathroom is huge and the shower separated by a glass cubicle is chic. Its location on the main building meant that guests will have easy access to every major facilities in the resort. We already knew where to stay the next time we get back here!
Sophisticated. Elegant. These were the exact words that could describe what we saw in this suite. It has a spacious master’s bedroom, a second room that is as elegant as the first, and an equally spacious living room. Each room has an entertainment system to ensure guests will have the greatest time of their lives while staying indoors. The two ensuite bathrooms were in a league of their own, too. We have been so lucky to have been there just before sunset. We were greeted by the warm sea breeze and the fiery colours of the sky as soon as we stepped out to the veranda.
Two-Bedroom Ocean View Apartment
The Two-Bedroom Apartment gave us a feeling that we were indeed at home, only that we were pampered with a majestic view of the ocean in front of us. To say that the picturesque view of the sand and surf accentuated by the occasional passing of some motorised boats in the distance is relaxing is an utter understatement. Add to the fact that this accommodation is one of Grand Mirage Resort’s grandest. The distinct splendour of wood lavishly used in this quarters, and the intricate wood engravings adorning the master’s bedroom made us feel like royalties. We’re sure you’d feel the same here, too! The Jacuzzi on the balcony was the ultimate go-getter.
Three-Bedroom Ocean View Apartment
If you are travelling in a big group, the Three-Bedroom Ocean View Apartment is definitely for you! The accommodation actually looked like a hotel suite than an apartment. The artistic use of wood and earth colours made this apartment so luxurious. The avant-garde furniture and the contemporary apartment interior evokes enthusiasm. The homey ambience will give guests real worth to their money and oh, the balcony with an ocean view would definitely be our favourite hang-out spot if we stayed there.
Three-Bedroom Family Pool Villa
Snuggled amid the property’s lush gardens, the Three-Bedroom Family Pool Villa is really your home away from home. Its ideal location sets you away from any distraction making it an ultimate family accommodation. The three bedrooms have their own ensuite bathroom. The villa also has its own kitchen if you feel like having a gustatory feast anytime! What’s more, we found the villa’s private pool and loungers so enticing that we thought of having a nice dip right away!
Every day is a fun day at Grand Mirage Resort. Guests can actually indulge in daily morning walks in and around the resort and a yoga lesson, especially on Sundays. The resort has prepared various daily fun activities so guests will never have a dull moment while they are here. This enhances the guests’ chance of having an ultimate repose while on vacation. We highly recommend waking up early so you can enjoy these early warm-up exercises before you get occupied with the whole day’s worth of activity prepared just for you. Actually, since we stayed there for a week, we tried our hands at Janur weaving that Monday afternoon. We had tons of fun, and we highly recommend doing that activity during your stay!
Grand Mirage’s eight restaurants and three bars serve different authentic cuisines. Whether you like outdoor dining with live entertainment or a poolside cocktail along with other guests, you name it, the resort has it. Since we were in Bali, we opted for a Balinese dinner during our first night. We actually made the right decision because we haven’t tasted Indonesian food that sumptuous. Our whimsical dinner choice that night got us hooked!
Thalasso Bali Spa is really more than just a spa. It has a water therapy through heated seaweed and seawater called aqua medic pool. The aqua medic pool brings rejuvenation and relaxation not just for the body but for the soul as well. The spa also has 16 treatment rooms with different themes, including one for pregnant women. For us, the Algue Body Glow massage was an ultimate experience. The sea salt scrub and the French seaweed paste delivers nothing but total rejuvenation. We know you will love it, too!
Grand Mirage is not just your usual resort. It offers a lot of extreme activities to boost your stay, such as the motorised watersport, wall climbing, and water slide. All of these will surely give you the experience of your life, just like we did.
Vacation is not just always as we think it is. The activities under the sun in this resort are extra fun but it can be quite energy-draining. Don’t worry! Thalasso Bali has all the relaxation treatments you need from body to beauty treatments. We promise, the resort’s aqua medic pool treatment is second to none!
