The moment we entered, we were greeted by the spacious Nectar Lobby Lounge. Its tasteful furnishings add a touch of elegance and create a luxurious but laid-back atmosphere. Whether you are new to Singapore, or have lived here your whole life the warm hospitality of the staff will make you feel right at home!

Aside from the lounge, this hotel in Singapore has its very own roof-top restaurant, the Upper Place. In addition, it houses a total of 41 rooms, each with their own unique themes and designs. We couldn’t wait to check everything out! Read our full Wangz hotel review to know more about this hotel in central Singapore.

Rooms

Wangz Hotel is home to a variety of different rooms, all of which guarantee space, comfort, and picturesque views of Singapore’s cityscapes.

Wangz Hotel Canopy Room
Wangz Hotel Canopy Room

Canopy Room

The Canopy Room is minimalistic, has no unnecessary frills, and is just what you need for a peaceful retreat. Out of the eight Canopy Rooms, four of them have bathtubs for that indulgent and refreshing soak. In addition, all rooms are fitted with their very own work desk, charging port and iPhone docking system. We were glad we didn’t have to do much work during our stay in this central hotel though!

Wangz Hotel Balcony Room

Balcony Room

If you love sunshine and fresh air, the Balcony Room is perfect. This already spacious room opens up into an outdoor balcony, complete with lounge chairs and a parasol. A wooden partition separated us from the balcony of the adjourning room. We enjoyed the serenity of the garden while overlooking the bustling roads beneath it was our very own private hideout indeed!

Wangz Hotel Deep Suite
Wangz Hotel Deep Suite

Deep Suite

The biggest room in this central hotel, the Deep Suite, screams indulgence. This exclusive room is the only one of its kind in Wangz Hotel and features two distinct main areas – a multi-functional living space and an intimate, cushy bedroom. The two spaces are thoughtfully separated by a full-length sliding glass door to accommodate those who prefer more privacy. Still, they share a common artistic theme and are brought together with unique bird motifs that add character to the place.

You can do almost anything in such a large suite! The living area is perfect for those looking to host small private meetings or discussions, and the sofa even opens up to a queen-sized bed for any extra guests. We made full use of the exclusive Nespresso machine, and enjoyed a mid-day coffee-break while chatting away.

Wangz Hotel Soak Room

Soak Room

Enter the Soak Room, which is probably the most romantic room in the whole compound. We relished in the exclusivity of the experience (there is literally only ONE of such rooms). The sultry reds of the interior design were enchanting and the one-of-a-kind round bathtub got us very excited. We also took advantage of the Geneva Speakers to play some of our favourite tunes, as we sank into the irresistible Sealy Posturepedic mattress for the... best sleep ever! Did we forget to add that there’s an exclusive pillow menu too?

The Area

Wangz Hotel

Wangz Hotel is nestled in the eclectic Art Deco area of the indie Tiong Bahru district. This hotel in Singapore is within a 20-minute radius from the urban excitement of the Orchard Road shopping belt, and impressive Chinatown which is celebrated for its heritage and architecture. If you’re in the mood to party, venture to nearby Clarke Quay and explore the local riverside nightlife! In fact, we only had to take a few steps out of the hotel (literally) to get an authentic taste of Singapore. The charming and chic neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru offers the best of past and present Singapore.

Delight your inner bookworm at this indie bookstore

Move aside Kindle, hard-copy books are back in fashion. The nostalgic smell of ink and paper, accompanied by the action of flipping tangible pages, provides a whole different sensory experience than tapping on a screen. One of the best bookstores leading the trend back to books is BooksActually, located along Yong Siak Street. Instead of mainstream bestsellers, this indie store is decked with books by lesser-known authors and focuses on local writers and self-published titles. Need a novel gift for your loved ones? Present them with a gift of knowledge from their mystery book vending machine right at the shopfront!

Dine at hipster cafes and
time-honored eateries

Be surrounded by both modern and traditional concepts of Singapore’s culinary scene! Tiong Bahru is well-known for its slew of hipster coffee joints as well as traditional food places. Each establishment has its own character and vibes, from the rustic Tiong Bahru Pau and Snack, laid-back family-run Flock Cafe, to the local favourite Tiong Bahru Bakery. Opened by celebrity baker Gontran Cherrier, Tiong Bahru Bakery serves up some of the best bakes – sweet and savoury! Be sure to try their flavourful Brie and Mushroom Croissant as well as our personal favourite, the Green Tea Almond Croissant which features an almost kaya-like green tea filling and a flaky buttery crust.

Practice your photography skills

We cannot emphasise enough how well Tiong Bahru screams the contrast of old versus new. Every corner of Tiong Bahru is begging for a photograph to be taken – a true delight to any avid photographer or Insta-holic! One can spend hours marvelling at the backdrop of traditional shophouses with their iconic circular staircases against towering high-rise residential blocks. Go on an adventure and hunt for Tiong Bahru’s elusive murals, inspired by artist Yip Yew Chong’s childhood memories. While these walls make for a perfect #ootd opportunity, they also portray the importance of Singapore’s heritage and culture even in modern times. Have Google Maps on standby and start snapping!
