The Resort

A dreamy tropical hideout in an unspoilt paradise

Often compared to the nearby Boracay Island, Romblon has its own charm that’s very much worth getting to know. Its quiet ambience is a distinct contrast from Boracay’s buzzing atmosphere — but don’t let it fool you. In the midst of its laid-back setting, Romblon also has much to offer: thrilling cliff-diving, mysterious spelunking sites, and incredible sunsets.

Wondering where to stay in Romblon? Look no further. Oceans Edge Resort is a breathtaking resort in Romblon, particularly located on Carabao Island — an unspoilt paradise with stunning white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. Ideal for travellers looking for a quiet getaway, the luxury boutique resort is perfect for families, couples, groups of friends, and even solo travellers. With its own private cove, this Romblon resort offers a tranquil escape from city life. At the same time, it provides easy access to the island’s exciting attractions and activities.

As you continue reading this Oceans Edge Resort review, you’ll certainly fall more in love with the idea of coming by for a visit. Beautifully designed with traditional Filipino interiors, the sumptuous villas rest on the edge of a cliff, 30 metres above the Tablas Strait’s turquoise waters. Enjoy panoramic views of the ocean from anywhere in this resort — we particularly loved watching the scenes from the infinity pool, restaurant, and our villa’s very own terrace. And as if this all wasn’t enough, the resort’s personalised service made us feel right at home.

True to its commitment to sustainable development, the resort offers complimentary reusable glass bottles to guests. And we certainly appreciated the little details like the book selections, French press, freshly ground coffee, tea, and complimentary chocolates during turn-down service. Ah, guilt-free luxury!

Muni-Muni
Cliff Villa

Enjoy 40 square metres of privacy when you stay at the Muni-Muni Cliff Villa. We were delighted to have an entire floor to ourselves — including our very own balcony with gorgeous views of the resort’s private cove. At our villa, we loved the comfortable king size bed and beautiful Filipino decor. The spacious glass-walled bathroom, on the other hand, was a very sexy surprise! Enjoying the rain shower while looking out into the panoramic beauty of the cove certainly makes for an unforgettable experience.

Choose between ocean or garden views, as the Kalinaw Studio Villa offers a wider perspective of the lay of the land and the great ocean beyond. We particularly loved its floor-to-ceiling windows and custom-made Filipino furniture — a combination that truly perfected the villa’s chic and rustic ambience. In addition, we appreciated the special touches such as the complimentary reusable bottles, and the traditional Filipino hat and bayong (bag) for use around the resort.

The Area

Oceans Edge Resort pool view

Oceans Edge Resort is an ideal starting point for getting to know Carabao Island’s amazing attractions. If you haven’t already heard this, some actually refer to this destination as Boracay’s twin sister. And once you see the stunning white sand beaches on the island, you’ll certainly understand why. Venture to Lanas Beach for snorkelling, scuba diving, and breathtaking sunsets. Poblacion Beach and Tan-agan Beach, on the other hand, are perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

Close to Oceans Edge Resort, you’ll also find Cathedral Cave. This is a popular spelunking destination, and an even better-known point for cliff-diving! If you happen to be a first-timer, then you’re in luck — this spot has several jump-off points, including beginner-friendly ones. As you jump into crystal clear waters, you certainly won’t regret making the decision to take on this activity. You can even kick back and relax while floating on a bamboo raft in the middle of the water!

A few metres from Cathedral Cave, Koding-koding Cave is another favourite spot for cliff-diving into beautiful turquoise waters. It’s also where you’ll catch some of the most gorgeous sunset views on Carabao Island. This being said, you will certainly still enjoy this spot even if you aren’t on the adventurous side!

Meanwhile, Ngiriton Cave is another popular spelunking site just 15 minutes away from Koding-koding Cave. Adding to its mystique are the thousands of bats that make this cave their home. You can enjoy a gentle carabao ride across a rice plantation field before reaching the lush forest surrounding the cave. After admiring Ngiriton’s stalagmites and stalactites (and sleeping bats!), enjoy a refreshing buko upon your exit.
