the Hotel

The epitome of authentic Filipino hospitality dedicated to all Pinoys-at-heart

A big misconception about Metro Manila is that in its efforts to catch up to more developed cities in Southeast Asia, the experience of being here becomes less and less “Filipino”. But we beg to disagree. If people know the right places to go to, they’d figure that the capital still offers a myriad of uniquely Filipino attractions. You have native restaurants, museums, nostalgic parks and even accommodations. Among the ones we found incredibly interesting is Kabayan Hotel in Pasay City.

After finding the hotel online, we eventually found ourselves in front of it to check it out for ourselves. We had a moment of disbelief about the fact that this humble hotel sits right along the busiest avenue in the city. Upon entering, the gracious staff in their yellow and blue uniforms promptly came to our support. It was just like being in a relative’s home in the province! Going around, we saw the Pinoy Star Cafe where we spent loads of our time in the hotel. Why? Because all the dishes served here are truly Filipino! What’s more, since we booked our stay on their website, we got to enjoy discounts. We also had discount perks with redeemable points earned through our Kabayan Privilege Card.

We were also a big fan of the hotel’s prayer room, a place for guests who need time to commune or meditate in private. There's also a worship hall wherein we got to see what an impressive crowd of OFWs and family guests the hotel has. Clearly, this made us feel right at home! Because of its location, we got to easily access many of the city’s southern attractions including SM Mall of Asia, SMX Convention Center and MOA Arena. For a home away from home experience, we’d definitely go back here any time! Read our full Kabayan Hotel review to see what’s in store for you at this genuinely Filipino hotel in Pasay City.

Things TO DO

Pay tribute to your Filipino roots by taking up one or all of these hotel pastimes

Satisfy your Filipino cravings

Aside from being cordial, Filipinos are known for their impeccable taste and creativity in cooking. Guests will experience these at Kabayan Hotel’s on-site restaurant, Pinoy Star Cafe, open from 4am. Start your day with filling breakfast offerings that include your favourite Filipino fares, such as tapa, tocino, and daing na bangus. For lunch or dinner, enjoy a plate of Pampanga’s sisig, crispy pata, pinakbet, and pochero. One more highlight of the restaurant comes every afternoon when the venue starts to serve feast-worthy buffet merienda at affordable prices. Some of the servings to look out for are pansit, puto’t dinuguan, and assorted kakanin.

In addition, the restaurant has a roll-out diner for the complimentary breakfast with varying menu selections daily. It also offers continental breakfast options to foreign guests, such as sausages, pancakes, and more. Guests who prefer a la carte servings of more Filipino dishes can head to Sala Restaurant.

Things to do

Cool down with halo-halo and more

Especially ideal this season, Kabayan Hotel offers guests several options to quench their thirst while savouring fresh Filipino flavours. Choose among the all-time favourites halo-halo, fruit shakes, ice candy and sago’t gulaman while chilling out with your loved one or friends. These are available in both dining outlets in the hotel.

Things to do

Have some quiet time inside our prayer cubicles

Kabayan Hotel has taken into account Filipinos’ religiosity and being prayerful, so they set up prayer cubicles within the property. Practising guests who wish to have a moment to commune with the Lord can go to one of them anytime they wish. They’ll also find prayer cards inside their own rooms. These are unique additions to the already impressive home-like services of the hotel.
