Fun Facts

#1

The lobby bar serves
tasty, local craft beer

Tijili Seminyak Hotel Tijili story

With its newly renovated lobby comes an upgrade to City Garden Suites’ lobby bar, too. Known for mixing up the best concoctions for a night cap or even just a casual drink in the middle of the day, the lobby bar now boasts of local brew that will surely tickle your tastebuds. It now serves local craft beer courtesy of Engkanto, a brewery that has elevated the Philippine drinking scene since its debut in 2017.

#2

The hotel has started efforts to
become more eco-friendly

Tijili Seminyak Hotel Tijili story

A Manila hotel that is known for hospitality with a heart, City Garden Suites is also making an effort to be more eco-friendly in its operations. For this reason, guests will no longer find toiletries such as shampoo, shower gel, and lotion in plastic bottles all throughout the property. They’re now housed in refillable dispensers in all of the suites’ bathrooms. In addition to this, housekeeping only uses biodegradable trash bags for tidying up. Admirably enough, City Garden Suites reminds us that all actions — big or small — matter when it comes to saving the environment.

#3

City Garden Suites is the first hotel
of the City Garden Hotel Group

Tijili Seminyak Hotel Tijili story

Here’s a little historical trivia: It may not look it since its rooms and facilities are well-maintained, but City Garden Suites is actually the first hotel of the City Garden Hotel Group! On top of its 142 well-appointed rooms (which are also considered among the largest rooms you’ll find in Manila accommodations), City Garden Hotel has also been known to be a great and reliable events place through the years. It has a ballroom for 200 guests and an events space that can house 100 people. City Garden Suites has truly kept up with the times these past decades and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.

A few streets away is the major thoroughfare Taft Avenue, where you’ll find the LRT 1’s Pedro Gil Station. The Area

Staying in Ermita, one of Manila’s most iconic districts, gives you a peek into the city’s cultural and commercial development. What was once a hangout and residential area for Manila’s culturati and elite, Ermita was a well-known area and one that was considered hip. Somewhere along the way, it evolved into a red light district, but has since transcended this reputation. Now, Ermita is ultimately a tourist and commerce hub. It is also slowly regaining its footing in the arts and culture scene, with a number of galleries, cafes, bookstores, and bars cropping up one after another.

Just a quick jeepney or Grab ride away is the National Museum complex, where you’ll find the National Gallery and the National Museum of Anthropology. Not far from these buildings are the National Planetarium and the National Museum of Natural History, where countless flora and fauna specimens are housed.

Tip: Entrance to all National Museum buildings is free so make sure to line up early. You’ll often find a long queue at these entrances so you’ll save time by showing up earlier in the day. Big bags are also prohibited inside these premises so it’s better to bring a small bag or just your wallet with you. City Garden Suites is just nearby, so you’ll have no problem freshening up and getting back to your things after museum-hopping.

Also a quick ride away are wide, open spaces that let you spend time surrounded by greenery. There’s the Rizal Park, where the monument of the Philippine’s national hero, Jose Rizal, stands guarded by members of the military. You can also head to Paco Park, where you’ll find a small chapel and an age-old historical ossuary. There is, of course, the walled city of Intramuros, famous for housing remnants of Spanish rule in the Philippines.

If you prefer to shop till you drop, make a beeline for Robinson’s Place Manila (also known as Robinson’s Midtown), SM Manila, or the colossal SM Mall of Asia, which also features breathtaking views of Manila Bay.

Adventurous bargain hunters can also easily commute to Divisoria, a nearby shopping district filled with cheap buys and street vendors. Not so far from Divisoria is another commercial centre with great affordable options — 168 Shopping Mall in Binondo. Binondo is Manila’s very own Chinatown so treat yourself to some dimsum and noodles after shopping.

Churches Churches
Ermita Church and Paco Church

Churchgoers will also be happy to know that there are three churches that are very near City Garden Suites: Ermita Church, Paco Church, and Malate Church, which is just right across Manila Bay and the Rajah Sulayman Park.

Churches Churches

Malate is Ermita’s neighbouring district, and you’ll find many cafes, restaurants, and bars here as well, so it’s always a good idea to visit. What exactly can foodies try in Malate? All sorts of international cuisine: Middle Eastern, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Thai, and even Halal-certified eats — Malate’s wide array of food choices will certainly satisfy any craving. If you can’t make up your mind, head to Salo Park, a food park along Nakpil Street. The nightlife in Ermita and Malate is blooming and booming, too. There are many bars and clubs for partying the night away; just walk around the area and take your pick.

There are a number of family-friendly centres nearby as well. Kids will surely enjoy a trip to Manila Ocean Park or Manila Zoo. When you’re done visiting the animals, have a fun time at DreamPlay and Star City, or tour Museo Pambata and The Dessert Museum!

Manila Ocean Park The Dessert Museum
Fitness Fitness

Feeling a bit full from all those food fests? Fitness buffs can jog along Roxas Boulevard while chasing the famous Manila Bay sunset. Keep your eyes peeled for group workouts like Tai Chi and Zumba in various parts of the baywalk. They’re free and are open to the public! You’ll also find similar group workouts at Luneta Park, Blue Bay Walk, and SM Mall of Asia’s seaside space. As you can see, you won’t run out of things to do in Manila! And if you’re feeling a bit drained from all the excitement, you can always recharge in your very own space at City Garden Suites.
