A serene European-themed retreat from bustling Hong Kong

Lanson Place Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Since we were in Hong Kong for a business trip that spanned a couple of weeks, we were looking for a hotel in Hong Kong that feels like a home away from home. We are happy to report that the Lanson Place Hotel, Hong Kong fit the bill! When we stepped out of the taxi, we were greeted by a charming 19th-century French-style building façade with ivory white walls. We also noticed that the street where the hotel is located is peaceful and quiet.

The calming European theme is present in all aspects of the Hong Kong hotel. The white ivory and grey tones from the hotel’s exterior are incorporated into the hotel’s ground level extended to the Parisian-style courtyard – The Leighton via its granite walls. Despite the greyish tone, the pops of green from the lush greenery and emerald bespoke sofa chairs give a fresh, contemporary look overall. We must say that the colour palette is really cool and inviting.

The check-in process was smooth and seamless thanks to the help of the warm and friendly staff at the concierge. Knowing that we were there on a business trip, they even kindly let us know about the hotel’s business centre facilities. We really appreciated the personal touch to the staff’s service. Throughout our entire stay at Lanson Place Hotel, Hong Kong, we were really pleased with the top-notch facilities. Like other Lanson Place Hotel, Hong Kong review online, we agree that the atmosphere really makes the hotel seem like a home.

Rooms

Thoughtfully designed spacious rooms with everything you could possibly need

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Superior Room

Standard Room

Continuing with the theme, the rooms are tastefully decorated with a European feel. We love the colour scheme of the room! The soft browns with pops of teal were really aesthetically pleasing. After a busy day in the city, we instantly felt calm and at ease when stepping into our room at Lanson Place Causeway Bay. The kitchenette, equipped with a stovetop, microwave and refrigerator, allows us to prepare a quick snack whenever we felt peckish. The kitchenette was a handy addition for when we were tired of eating out. To top it all off, there was a complimentary welcome hamper waiting for us in the room!

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Premier Room

Premier Room

When we stepped into the Premier Room, we immediately noticed how light and airy the room felt. With an open layout, high ceilings and cool colour palette, natural light simply pours in and fills the entire room. The spacious room even had an adjoined living room area! We definitely spent a lot of time in the living room, eating our meals that were cooked in the kitchenette of course, while catching up on our Hong Kong drama series on the generous sized LCD TV.

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Deluxe Room

Deluxe Room

We were floored by the amount of space in the Deluxe Roms. This 440 square foot room felt even more spacious than it sounds thanks to the open-plan of a living and sleeping area. With this amount of space, we will definitely come back to Lanson Place Hotel, Hong Kong with our families the next time we’re in Hong Kong. The star of the room had to be the luxurious bed! With America’s Sealy mattress covered in high-quality linens, we felt like we were lying on a bed made of clouds. With a mountain of six pillows on top, pulling ourselves out of bed every morning was close to impossible.

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Grand Luxe Room

Grand Luxe Room

This room simply exudes elegance and style. We especially loved the small details such as the grey and white striped pattern on the walls and mirror storage spaces. These little touches really elevate the luxurious yet homey feel of the room. The coolest feature of the room has to be the mounted revolving LCD iPTV! Whether we want to catch a movie on the bed or want to watch the evening news in the living area, the revolving design makes both options possible.

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Prestige Suite Room

Prestige Suite

From the moment we stepped through the doorway The Prestige Suite certainly felt like a home away from home. With distinct sections for the sleeping and living room areas and a well-stocked kitchenette, it really feels like we were in our own flat, but of course, this is unquestionably more luxurious. Our favourite part of the day has to be the mornings; sipping our freshly brewed coffee made by the Nespresso coffee machine while watching the sun spread its morning rays over Hong Kong and nearby Victoria Park.

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Penthouse Two-Bedroom Suite

Penthouse One-Bedroom Suite

If you want a taste of the high life, staying at the Penthouse One-Bedroom Suite is the way to go. Whether it is in the morning or night, we got to savour unparalleled views of the city at any time of the day from the suite’s dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows that run the length of the space. As we witness the city moving in a constant flurry, we basked in the elegance and comfort of the plush furnishings in the spacious suite. The full open-concept kitchen is also stocked with a breakfast bar that makes it really convenient for us to grab a quick breakfast during the rushed mornings.

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Penthouse Two-Bedroom Suite

Penthouse Two-Bedroom Suite

While the Penthouse One-Bedroom Suite is decked with a richer and more sophisticated colour palette, the Penthouse Two-Bedroom Suite simply oozes with brightness. With a baby blue and sand brown hues, the suite gives off a tasteful and tranquil feeling. This suite is perfect for those travelling with family or, like us, those who crave more space. We really appreciated the artwork picked out that adds a special touch to the suite. The artwork includes rare lithographic prints and etchings from world-renowned artists such as Bernard Buffet, Georges Braque and Marc Chagall. Other than admiring the art in our own gallery, we took a long soak in a generously sized bathtub and let our troubles wash away. Ah, it doesn’t get any better than this.

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Lounge and Library

#1

Wind down at the 133 Lounge and Library

Hong Kong is a great city offering a plethora of things to see and do. However, a day out and about in the city’s flurry of activities really exhausted us. When we were in need of some peace and quiet by ourselves, we retreated to the exclusive 133 Lounge and Library in the Hong Kong hotel. We chose a book from the library and snuggled up on one of the many plush sofas in the lounge. In the afternoons, we enhanced this tranquil experience with a fresh cup of afternoon floral tea.

When we need to wind down in the evenings, we would order a cocktail from the wide selection offered at the bar. On Thursdays and Fridays, live piano jazz music fills the room as we sip on our delicious alcoholic beverages. There’s definitely no better way to enjoy the end of the day in this hotel in Hong Kong.

Work up a sweat at the gym

Since we were here for a few weeks, we worked out every few days in the gym conveniently located in the hotel. Other than keeping up our fitness levels, working up a sweat gives us the excuse to be able to indulge in Hong Kong’s gastronomic delights on the daily. Besides, with state-of-the-art gym equipment and views overlooking Victoria Park, we had no qualms running on the treadmill or lifting some weights.

Whip up some meals in the kitchenette

We all know that although Hong Kong’s delicacies - such as char siu chicken rice and dim sums - are some of the most delicious in the world, they are not exactly the best food for your health. We did find some healthier and organic food establishments around the city that are gaining popularity in Hong Kong. However, the food served is on the more expensive side.

When looking for where to stay in Hong Kong, we were glad that the hotel had a kitchenette. To ensure that we still incorporate nourishing food in our diets on our trip, we frequently whipped up some healthy and delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchenette. With cooking utensils and a microwave oven, preparing our meals was a breeze. Sometimes, we even cooked too much! But not to worry, with a refrigerator in the hotel room, keeping our food fresh wasn’t a problem.

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Complimentary Smartphone

One awesome gadget that caught our attention when we entered our room was Handy, a complimentary smartphone that we could bring with us around Hong Kong. With unlimited 4G mobile internet, we didn't even need to buy a local SIM card. We could easily search for tourist information and access Google maps, thus ensuring that our trip was smooth sailing. We also made international calls on Handy whenever we needed to contact our Singapore office. Did we mention that local and international calls to select regions are free? We were delighted to bid goodbye to expensive roaming charges!

DVD library upon request

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong DVD Library

When we were running out of things to do in the evenings, we would drop by the concierge and pick up a DVD. We simply had to pop in the disc in the DVD player and pop some popcorn in the microwave, and ta-dah, we have a fuss-free movie night! We were quite impressed with the hotel’s selection of movies in their DVD library. Because of this, we had one too many movie nights! Lanson Place Hotel, Hong Kong is definitely where to stay in Hong Kong for movie nights in.

Art exhibitions and music performance

Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong Design Pier Exhibitions

Being lovers of art, we were delighted when we found out that Lanson Place Hotel, Hong Kong actively supports talents in art and culture. Not only have they hosted multiple Design Pier exhibitions, such as the ‘True Tales By Design’ exhibition which showcased works from twenty international designers, but they have also held musical performances such as ‘Musicians Without Borders - Tribute to Carlos Kleiber’ presented by the Gustav Mahler Orchestra in 2018. Additionally working together with Hong Kong’s Romer String Quartet, the hotel runs regular outreach programs such as the ‘Beare’s Premiere Music Festival’; a free community concert organised by Premier Performances in 2019. Although we didn’t catch any art exhibitions or music performances during our stay, do look out for them when you’re staying with Lanson Place Hotel, Hong Kong!
