When we finally arrived at Montebello Villa Hotel for our much-needed weekend escape, we were amazed. Wowed, even. We didn’t expect a VIP treatment which started from the moment we stepped into the lobby. The hotel staff were all smiles at us, and in just a few seconds, we knew we were home.
At the lobby, we can’t help but notice the rich Hispanic architecture with furniture adorning the whole area in warm to light earth tones and pristine white colours. Our eyes feasted on the classic paintings, beautiful chandelier high up in the ceiling, and the unassuming tile flooring. The luxury and elegance were so arresting yet the warmth that the whole place emanates nevertheless made us feel completely at ease. Check in at the front desk was fast and a hotel staff escorted us to our room right away.
Overall, we were so glad to have stayed at Montebello Villa Hotel. Not only did we find a stunning oasis in the middle of a concrete jungle, we found our second home – one that we would never want to leave.
Although the most basic of all the room types, the Standard Room is definitely not short of amenities and facilities that will make your stay unforgettable. It gives you the best of both lush garden views and accessibility. A hot cup of coffee or tea which you can make with the coffee and tea making equipment available in this room would be perfect for an afternoon chit chat with a friend while enjoying the enthralling view of the garden before you.
This is a slightly bigger room which boasts an even lovelier overlooking view of the lush greenery and landscaped surroundings from its very own private balcony. The classic blend of Filipino and Hispanic accents in this room exudes a warm, relaxing ambience. Unlike the Standard Room, the Superior Room has a bathtub and shower with hot and cold water which you can enjoy after a long and tiring day.
We stayed in a Deluxe Room, and we’d say, it was a good choice! The hotel staff told us that we can opt to have the Twin bed if we want to, but we chose the King sized bed since we are such cuddle bears. We slept like royalty for a night. In addition, this room flaunts a truly arresting blend of traditional and modern decorations from its floors up to its walls. But what we really love the most here is the sweeping view of the lush gardens in total privacy and seclusion. Comfy bed, well-functioning room facilities and relaxing views – what more can we ask for?
With a private balcony facing the shimmering water of a semi-private swimming pool, this room type is really mesmerising. It is quite distinct from the rest as it awakens your gypsy soul and artistic side with its fruity coloured decorations. It also gracefully connects you to the inviting water as it has an alfresco patio with access to the Ground floor pool. All these and more are enough reasons for us to come back for yet another smashing staycation.
The Junior Suite is perfect for the aquaholics who want to stay near the pool and the Poolside Bar. Added to its convenience is the fact that it is adjacent to the main restaurant of the hotel. Treat yourself to the charming panorama view of the lush garden from this room. With this accommodation, you may take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool whenever you want without having to walk far.
As the name suggests, you are sure to find solace and comfort in this suite that has an eye refreshing view of the lush landscaped garden and greeneries from a private balcony. Being the second to the largest room type, this suite is extra spacious and equipped with basic room amenities. It is definitely ideal for families, couples or business travellers who want to have peace and serenity amidst the busy city life.
The only room on the highest floor, the Penthouse is the loftiest and quite literally the most breathtaking of all! With wide living areas and romantic bedroom, you can truly enjoy total privacy here. What makes it even more enticing are the windows that open to fresh breezes over your very own private balcony. A picturesque view of the beautiful landscaped garden and lush trees greet you every single day. And, unlike the other rooms, it has a separate living room, a kitchenette and a dining area. Sounds like the perfect place for your next family holiday!
Newly Refurbished Rooms
The Premier room perfectly fits leisure travellers who want to find an escape from the city stress. This is also another room which interests us because of the majestic ambience while viewing the sprawling lush and beautifully landscaped tropical gardens from a private patio on the ground floor or from the window on the second floor. We could already imagine some bonding time with more friends here!
The Premier Suite is the delight of business travellers or families who crave for a luxurious yet peaceful living in the heart of a bustling city. It rightfully brags a tasty blend of traditional and contemporary resort ambience that makes you feel comfortable yet pampered with its practical modern-wise technology. After a long and tiring day, refresh yourself in its bathroom with a separate bathtub and hot and cold rainshower.
Try a variety of recreational activities
With so many things to do in the entire property, we were at a loss of what to try first. There are game rooms and play spaces for kids and adults alike. Enjoy frisbee, mini golf, fishing by the lagoon, and recreational biking. If these are not enough, participate in a Yoga session which happens every weekend. All these and more kept us occupied and engaged during our whole stay. We bet you’ll have fun here just like we did!
Jam during acoustic and Jazz nights
As huge fans of Jazz music, we trod towards the poolside to watch the live performance of a Jazz band. We sipped some red wine while listening to the sweet, relaxing serenade. The ambience was so magical that it can turn anyone into a poet in just a single snap. By the way, the La Terraza Restaurant offers happy hours for BPO and government employees where a buffet breakfast from 6am to 10am can be enjoyed for only ₱299 per head. Just present valid IDs at the front desk.
Treat yourself to a Themed Dinner Buffet
We tried their Themed Dinner Buffet which only happens every Saturday. Our gastronomic adventure that night was far beyond normal for we feasted on many different Filipino and Spanish style dishes. Our personal picks were gambas al ajillo, lengua steak and fried tilapia. And oh, they also have a new dessert selection but we opted to indulge our taste buds in their best selling Fudge Brownie and Blueberry Cheesecake.
How it all started
Montebello Villa Hotel originally started as an exclusive, member’s only country club which turned out to be the ONLY garden hotel in Cebu City. The owners wanted the hotel’s iconic poolside to pay tribute to its heritage so the classic "country club" style canopies in the said area were designed to create a nostalgic, elegant yet cosy atmosphere. Trivia: the current President and General Manager Luis Martin Alvarez used to ride his own horse in the lush grounds of the villa back when he was still a young boy.
A forefront of Cebu’s hospitality industry
Montebello Villa Hotel is owned and run by the Alvarez-Borromeo family for more than four decades. It is highly praised for its picturesque garden setting and excellent, personalised service. It is the family’s well-kept promise of comfort, and warm, genuine hospitality passed on from generation to generation. Despite existing for such a long time already, the entire property still maintains its modern charm and top-notch amenities to satisfy the needs of its guests.
Guest Services Associate
The hotel’s Guest Services Associate will be more than happy to assist you if you want to maximise your stay and would like to explore more of what Cebu City has to offer.
