Your very own piece of paradise set deep in the heart of Bali
Ubud is known as the cultural heart of Bali, and The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah definitely upholds this description. Surrounded by vast emerald paddy fields, The Club’s twenty art-filled havens ensure that guests luxuriate in spacious, comfortable and intricately ornamented rooms.
We fell irrevocably in love with the beautiful living spaces and its surroundings from the moment we stepped into the compound. When we arrived, the staff immediately pampered us by offering refreshing welcome drinks along with warm greetings. From having the daily newspaper to seasonal fresh fruit being delivered to our doorstep everyday, their fantastic personal butler service also made sure that all our needs were well taken care of without us having to lift a finger.
The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah certainly dazzles with their excellent service and facilities. We were blown away and are sure that you will feel the same! Get ready for your most relaxing vacation yet!
Nestled amongst idyllic lotus and lily ponds, our 70 square metre bedroom suite was a cosy and intimate space for chilling out. Our room consisted of an artfully decorated living space, and the bedroom was fully fitted with a plush queen size bed that was perfect for snoozing and lounging in. We enjoyed the charming semi-outdoor bathroom which included an open air shower and bathtub the most as we could run a warm bath to soak in after a tiring day of exploring – simply blissful!
At 280 square metres, this romantic private villa consists of a bedroom as well as your very own eight-metre private pool! This was a pleasant surprise for us as the private pools in other hotels that we have been to were rather shallow and mostly just for dipping or relaxing in. We enjoyed the tastefully furnished room with its luxuriously comfortable queen size bed. With dual sinks, an open air shower along with an outdoor soaking tub, it definitely felt like our own little piece of paradise!
If you are planning on having a family vacation, fear not for The Chedi Club also offers a Family Villa for your accommodation needs. This gorgeous villa contains a queen bed in the master bedroom and twin beds in the adjoining bedroom. The tropical garden and roomy living area also provide excellent opportunities to simply enjoy the company of loved ones. There is of course, also your very own private pool to splash around in with the kids. If you think that it cannot get any better, the hotel also offers babysitting services so that mom and dad can take some time off to rejuvenate at the spa or finally check off that long overdue dinner date.
At a whopping 570 square metres, the Hadiprana Villa definitely wowed us off our feet. Embellished with ornate decor, this room was the epitome of luxury. This lavish villa has an airy master bedroom fitted with a queen size bed as well as a guest room with twin beds. In addition to the 10-metre long swimming pool, we also enjoyed spending some quiet time soaking in our outdoor Jacuzzi tub. With such opulent comforts, it is undeniable that this villa made us feel like royalty!

The Chedi Club offers one hour long guided tours for guests to get closer to the lush paddy fields that surround the compound. Follow your guide through the emerald green and learn more about this ancient farming tradition and Balinese subak irrigation functions, culminating your journey at the Ulunsuwi Temple. We recommend waking up early and going between 7am and 8am as you will get to enjoy the spectacular view of the sunrise on your morning stroll – we cannot think of a more perfect way to start the day!
We also enjoyed the local Kecak Dance performance at The Chedi Club’s very own amphitheatre. The local community dance troupe definitely put on a spectacular show that amazed us with their music, moves and chanting. The atmosphere was heightened by the candle-lit surrounding as lights flickered and shadows danced across the amphitheatre. You can also opt for a traditional Royal Balinese dinner after the performance at The Restaurant to complete your Balinese cultural experience!
The Spa suites at The Chedi Club face the paddy fields, which instantly lends an air of calm and tranquillity while you have your massage. Relax and have your troubles melt away with their signature Chedi Jade Massage, which use beauty and spa products that have been specially created for the spa here. We particularly relished the chance to try out the classic Indonesian cream bath, which is touted to deeply condition hair while expert masseuses massage your body. We felt absolutely pampered and refreshed after emerging from this spa session and we know that you definitely would, too!
The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah, Ubud is situated on Goa Gajah Street. Gajah means “elephant” when translated into English. Thus, the hotel property is also referred to as “the land of elephant” in English. This is why you will find many images of the elephant all over the hotel, from elephant carvings to elephant paintings adorning the walls along the halls and in your room. There are even elephant statues on the roof as well!
Did you know that the rice served in The Chedi Club’s Restaurant comes from the same paddy fields that you wake up to everyday? Indeed, for their Balinese dishes, the Restaurant uses rice which comes from the paddy fields surrounding the hotel itself! No wonder it seemed extra tasty!
Apart from its mouthwatering Balinese cuisine, the Restaurant also serves up mean Western fare and other Asian delights which are specially whipped up by Executive Chef Dean Nor. Chef Dean Nor hails from Singapore, where he spent 17 years honing his craft in the culinary industry. It is no wonder that guests are always impressed with his superbly delicious gastronomic delights!
