When we were looking up places for where to stay in Bali, we didn’t know what to expect when we heard about the Fairfield by Marriott hotel at Sunset Road in Kuta. With the wide array of tropical-themed accommodations in Asia, we assumed that this Bali hotel was just another venue that we could treat as a place to sleep after an action-packed day — but we were wrong!
Fairfield by Marriott Bali Kuta Sunset Road has more surprises up its sleeve. Anyone would see this at first glance when they take in the hotel’s lavish, cottage-like exteriors. When we beheld this beguiling sight, we knew the interiors would be just as loveable. You’re going to agree with us once you walk in and see the rustic lobby that’s girdled in wood from wall to ceiling. We felt even closer to the environment when we found out that this Bali hotel prohibits the use of plastic bottles! Oh, and did we mention they welcome dogs, too?
A truly beautiful and friendly getaway for the family, this hotel in Bali is going to be one of your biggest reasons to come back to Indonesia. Allow us to convince you further that this iconic hotel truly is where to stay in Bali. Read our Fairfield by Marriott Bali Kuta Sunset Road hotel review to start your journey!
Couples on a simple nature retreat will find a peaceful sanctuary in the Deluxe Room. With white painted walls to calm your senses, a soft and fluffy queen-sized bed or twin bed, and a 43-inch LED screen to unwind to, no doubt your body and mind will find the rest it truly deserves. On top of that, there’s wireless internet, an iron and ironing board, plus a spacious working area. We were also told that parents may request for a crib for their baby! Now, that’s what we call thoughtful hospitality!
We found an even cooler version of the Deluxe Room in the Deluxe Pool View. Equipped with everything the Deluxe Room has to offer, the Deluxe Pool View — as you can tell by its name — offers a refreshing view of the hotel’s outdoor pool. The room is furnished with sofas, an oversized chair, desk, and alarm clock, which we found perfect for our bleisure (business and leisure) needs. But above all, we were drawn to the natural light seeping through the windows and cream-coloured curtains as we took snaps against the tranquil tropical background!
Want to feel even closer to the great outdoors? Then get a better view of the pool in a Premium Pool View room. These quarters come with either one queen-sized bed or two twin beds, perfect for travel buddies! For a fun night in, why not order room service or takeout to maximise their kitchen equipment? We made use of their tea set and coffee maker to get our healthy dose of caffeine. And of course, don’t forget to appreciate the view of lush nature and rustic architecture surrounding the pool!
At 44 sqm, the Deluxe Corner Pool View is the pride and joy of Fairfield by Marriott Bali Kuta Sunset Road. We went in with high expectations and we weren’t let down. Decked with rustic tropes, a queen-sized bed, moss-coloured curtains, comfortable sofas and beddings to match, we found it painful to leave this utterly idyllic room. The view from the balcony was quite rejuvenating as well as we took in the facade of this unique tropical hotel while breathing in the fresh air. Our favourite part? The room features an additional rollaway bed, so there’s enough space to sleep three to four people!

Book NowAside from going to the gym to stay in shape, head to the hotel’s spacious pool to do some calorie-burning laps. Its tempting cool water is just what travellers need to beat the Bali heat. What really won us over? The pool bar under a nipa hut! The hut is found at the edge of the pool, where there are also seats erected from the pool floor so that swimmers can quickly make themselves comfortable.
A bar like this conveniently gives floaters easy access to a cocktail fix while toasting to sweet music. The hotel also hosts an à la-flash mob performance called Sun Dance where staff and guests get to dance around the pool area at 12.30pm every day. Talk about chillin’ like a villain!
Nothing eased us into an islander mood better than the Jaba Lobby Lounge. The tropical ceiling built with geometric lines and matched with tall coconut palm trees gave us the comforting shade we needed. Thanks to this homestyle vibe, it was too easy for us to settle into the soft sofas and whitewashed seats as we drifted into afternoon conversations while feasting on their delicious staples. Our favourite from their menu was Martabak Ayam, which is a deep fried mix of vegetable and chicken, and Baoten Rendang, consisting of a bao bun with Indonesian coconut beef stew.
However, if you’re looking for rice, then Nasi Goreng Bongkot should be your go-to. It’s a delectable plate of ginger-torched scented fried rice matched with beef, chicken and sunny side up eggs! At the Jaba Lobby Lounge, guests can also wind down to all-day tea and coffee while enjoying warm company in the setting of a true tropical paradise.
Explore all the flavours of Bali in Jejaton, which aptly translates to “flavours”. Here, guests can order a wide range of local dishes from different Indonesian regions such as Bali, Surabaya, and Bandung. Order hefty meals like Calokok Bebek, a Balinese marinated crispy duck, and Ikan Sambel Kecicang, their soy-glazed and grilled Barramundi fillet.
Take comfort in their warm broths like Sup Buntut, their Indonesian style beef oxtail soup, and Udang Gong, a hot and sour soup with river prawn. But what truly sets this Bali hotel apart is that Jejaton serves elevated Indonesian street food too. Trust us, you don’t want to let the opportunity pass!
If you’re looking up where to stay in Bali for bleisure, look no further. Fairfield by Marriott Bali Kuta Sunset Road features four sizeable meeting rooms that can accommodate 250 people. They come with complimentary high-speed internet, flip charts, whiteboards, and even customised catering services. What’s more, these meeting rooms can be turned into a wedding reception, classroom, theatre, boardroom, or even a banquet! We don’t know about you, but we love flexible business venues!

A hotel can’t be a tropical-themed accommodation without caring for nature and the environment. We were so glad to know that Fairfield by Marriott Bali Kuta Sunset Road discourages and refrains from using plastic bottles within their own amenities!

To add a cherry on top of your tropical getaway, make your way to Bali’s renowned Kuta Beach! It’s approximately a 20-minute drive from Fairfield by Marriott Bali Kuta Sunset Road, so it isn’t that far and you practically have every reason to visit this beach. For one, Kuta Beach is one of the best places to catch Bali’s sunset, go sunbathing, surf, and even play beach soccer. It also has nearby restaurants and shopping places such as the Discovery Shopping Mall, Kuta Beach Walking Street, and the Kuta Art Market!
Another perk of staying at this Bali hotel is that several halal restaurants and cafés are only walking distance away. We suggest you visit the assembly of halal eateries in the area such as Warung Kumis Kuta, Warung Rasa Rumah, and Warung Jawa Bu Deek. These restaurants serve authentic Indonesian cuisine cooked simply, but no less hearty and homely. This is how you truly eat as the locals do!
