When we found out that there was a long weekend coming up, we immediately booked a flight to our dream destination, Boracay! Because of our hectic schedules, we never really had the chance to visit the island which is just an hour and a half plane ride away from where we live. Finally, we will be able to tick Boracay off our bucket list! In the days leading up to our trip, we had to make sure that everything was in place. Plane tickets, check! Now onto the accommodation. We searched for hotels that are in the middle of Boracay’s happenings but at the same time, would give us some peace and quiet without blowing a hole in our wallets. It was fate when our colleague overheard us and recommended Agos Boracay Rooms + Beds.
They say that tranquility in a vibrant island like Boracay can only be experienced in expensive high-end resorts in Station 1, but we beg to disagree. Agos Boracay Rooms + Beds is located in Station 2, the heart of Boracay’s party scene, yet we still enjoyed an uninterrupted sleep at night. And, the room rates are well within our budget. Strategic location and good homey environment at affordable rates – a real value for money!
From the moment we were handed complimentary chilled wet towels upon our arrival, up to the time we said goodbye to the staff during our departure, every moment with the hotel not only made us feel at home, but we actually felt that we were part of their family – the Agos Family.
Since we only arrived in Boracay at night, we were very eager to check-in and freshen up. Not that we wanted to rest early (hello, it’s Boracay!), but we were excited to do an evening stroll all dolled up. It was a delight to see that the Superior Double room has a spacious and well-lit bathroom with a hot and cold rain shower feature. We really needed a refreshing shower after a long trip!
While the bed in the Superior Double was super comfortable, sharing it with a friend was not a good idea because of different sleeping habits. So, we decided to transfer to the Superior Room which has two double beds. Problem solved! The room is also well-ventilated because aside from the window type air-conditioner, the rooms are fitted with floor-length windows and a ceiling fan.
While we were chilling within Agos’ vicinity, we met a barkada (group of friends) of four who were staying in a Deluxe Room. Since the night was getting chilly, we decided to continue our interesting conversation about travelling and tourism inside their room. The Deluxe Room is a bit more spacious with a bathroom twice bigger than its more affordable counterparts. It also has two sinks with a hairdryer, perfect for simultaneous personal hygiene activities. The best part? It has a designated area inside the room where you can dry your swimwear!
Before we left Agos, we asked the supervisor if we can view the bigger rooms because we were looking for an accommodation for a family gathering in a few months. The staff courteously showed us the Family Room and we were convinced right away! It is a loft-type room which can fit up to six people without compromising personal space. It also has a dining area for your convenience.
This room is basically the family room, but with a panoramic view of two of the most popular beaches in Boracay. Guests can choose between two units, either facing the Bulabog Beach or White Beach. The double bed on the second floor of the unit is perfect for the parents, while the pull-out beds on the ground floor can accommodate up to 4 people, and are designed for kids of all ages. The pull-out beds may also double as a sofa perfect for watching your favourite TV shows. The room is also ideal for barkadas!
This was our favourite room type! It would be a dream to wake up in a room with a view as gorgeous as the one that they have here. The moment we saw the White Beach view, we were instantly mesmerised, so much that we nearly forgot to take out our phone for photo ops. We simply savoured the moment here. We’ll definitely book this room for our upcoming family getaway!
While the island is booming with a wide array of day activities and a vibrant night scene, it is always good to just chill and enjoy the summer breeze. Agos Boracay Rooms + Beds features a breezy roof deck with a panoramic view of both White Beach and Bulabog Beach. We found this to be the perfect place to spend quality time with friends or family. During our stay, it was important for us to spend at least a night of quiet time just chatting. On our last night, we bought a bottle of wine and stayed on the roof deck while stargazing. Here, we even had the opportunity to meet new friends whom we shared our wine with!
After a tiring day at the beach, we decided to avail of the in-room massage services which they happily arranged for us. We had the Swedish massage and it felt amazing! We also took advantage of the other spa services such as manicure and pedicure which were all done inside the comfort of our hotel room! Privacy and convenience, all at reasonable rates!
On our second day, we experienced an unbearable scorching heat while strolling along the beach. To ease our sunburn, we decided to just go back to the hotel and spend the afternoon reading. Good thing, the Garden Gazebo was unoccupied!
It’s a good spot for reading your favourite book or magazine while enjoying the cool fresh air. It’s easily our favourite area in the entire hotel!
During our stay, we met a foreign couple on their honeymoon who initially planned to stay in the hotel for only three days. But since they fell in love with the island and were impressed with the services being offered at Agos, they decided to extend their stay. For their honeymoon, they wanted to tour around the Philippines for six months but the couple said that the experience of staying in Boracay was more than enough. They are planning to stay a few more weeks because so far, out of all the hotels they have inquired at for an extended stay, Agos offered them with discounted rates without compromising quality of service.
Agos Boracay prides itself on being the only accommodation in the island that has a rooftop sun deck where you can have a sweeping view of both the White Beach and Bulabog Beach. It was a breathtaking experience to relax at Agos Boracay’s rooftop. We got to enjoy our margaritas while enjoying the changing hues of the sky in the White Beach during sunset. On the opposite side, we were entertained by watching the different water sports activities that were going on at Bulabog Beach.
If you plan to stay with Agos Boracay, make sure you book directly through their website or through e-mail. They have a surprise that we didn’t really expect… Free breakfast! Since we made the right choice and booked via their website, Agos was kind enough to give us a complimentary voucher. We ordered their sausage breakfast meal and it was awesome! Just the right meal to start off our long day at the beach.
Way before Boracay became the booming destination that it is today, Agos’ owners have already been frequent visitors to the island. From the first time they set foot on the island in 1975, through the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, the family was so enamoured that they made the island as their regular destination. In 2012, the whole family visited the island and found an opportunity when they were offered a vacant lot near Station 2. Thus, Agos Boracay Rooms + Beds was born. The concept was to replicate their Quezon City residence where they welcome guests from all over the world into their humble abode and showcase Filipino hospitality.
During our stay in Agos, we really felt the family’s presence who personally handled our concerns and ensured that we had a comfortable stay. Shoutout to the owners Micah, Valerie, and Linda who were very helpful in giving us insider tips and tricks on how to enjoy the island.
