Sometimes, we all just need a short and relaxing weekend retreat. Yet, the thought of planning might seem a little too daunting – we all want somewhere near, cheap, fuss-free to get away to.
We stumbled across Allium Batam Hotel during our search – P.S. Batam is located just a short 50-minute ferry ride away from Singapore! – and we were sold. We decided to give it a shot, and what can we say? Bring us back, ANYTIME!
Allium Batam is a homely and modern abode perfectly suited to fulfill all your needs. With 211 immaculately designed guestrooms and suites, friendly hotel staff and a prime location at the heart of Nagoya, it’s basically the perfect accommodation to retreat to after a busy day of non-stop activities. Plus, it’s located within a 5-minute drive from the Harbour Bay ferry terminal in Batam!
On top of that, Allium Batam is a muslim-friendly hotel which serves halal food in the restaurant and lounge. Do note that the hotel doesn’t serve alcohol, but there’s no stopping you from bringing your own alcoholic drinks for a room or suite party!
Despite being the smallest room available at the hotel, the Deluxe Room is cozy and extremely comfortable! We were pleasantly surprised to find a splendid view of the lively Nagoya street laid out before our eyes upon drawing the curtains. The windows are pretty much soundproof as well, so we were able to get an undisturbed night’s sleep even with all the activity going on beside the hotel! There’s a writing table available should you need to do any work, as well as a marble bathtub for you to soak in and let all your worries melt away.
The Executive Room boasts bigger beds than the Deluxe Room, making it suitable for family getaways! If you thought the view from the Deluxe Room was great, just wait till you see the view from the Executive rooms.
These rooms are located on the 3rd, 15th, and 16th floors, and reward guests with gorgeous ocean views as well as views of Nagoya Street. We absolutely couldn’t resist snapping away with our camera!
Believe it or not, but this room is double the size of the Executive Room! It’s so incredibly spacious, we could literally dance around the room without bumping into anything at all.
It also comes with a separate living room for your ultimate comfort, where you can have a cosy night in just chilling on the sofa and watching television.
If you’re looking for something luxurious during your stay, the one-bedroom apartment is well-equipped to suit all your needs. It fits two people comfortably, and also has a sitting, dining, and kitchen area, as well as a washing machine! Catering predominantly to those who are intending to stay for long periods of time in Batam, the apartment has everything you could possibly need.
You can even whip up home cooked meals in the kitchen. With all these amenities, we won’t blame you if you’ll find it supremely hard to leave this cosy apartment!
4 people can spread out in absolute comfort in this two-bedroom apartment, which is more than twice the size of the one-bedroom apartment! We couldn’t resist snoozing on the extra large king sized beds with quality bed linens; it was as if we were lying on a giant and soft marshmallow.
It’s the ideal accommodation for couples on double dates or families of 4 looking to explore Batam!
Travelling with your extended family or relatives to Batam? No problem at all! This three-bedroom apartment can fit 6 people easily. The best part is that it comes at an extremely affordable price-tag!
It’s great for large families to bond during a holiday together, and just bask in each other’s company all day before retreating to their plush beds for the night.
Located discreetly at the end of the corridor, the Allium Suite ensures you get the utmost privacy and exclusivity you need for an undisturbed stay. You get a separate living area as well, so you’re able to entertain guests within the comforts of your suite.
The large marble bathroom and shower is also to die for, where you can luxuriate in style and take a good long refreshing bath.
This spectacular suite will make you feel like royalty with its lush carpeted flooring and unique golden headboard. The living area can accommodate at least twelve people comfortably, especially if you’re looking to host family gatherings or business meetings.
We were treated to a panoramic view of Batam’s skyline, and also got to admire the mesmerizing sunset in the evening, right from our suite!
The Paris-Lyon Café offers all-day dining, so head on over for a satisfying meal whenever you get hungry! Sink your teeth into the cafe’s signature wood-fired, thin-crust pizza, or choose from a diverse assortment of Indonesian, Eastern and Western delicacies.
Lounge on their eclectic purple and green velvet sofas while you indulge in your feast. We highly recommend the cafe’s trademark drinks – Iced Lychee Tea, Avocado Fever and Home-Made Iced Lemon Tea – to complement the delectable pizzas!
Splash around in the outdoor pool for a relaxing afternoon, or simply relax on the deck chairs and bask in the warmth of the sun!
The pool is not incredibly big, but its rectangular shape allows you to swim laps for that refreshing workout. It’s the best thing to do in the constant 30 degrees heat!
For all you fitness buffs, don’t fret! There’s a fitness room available with equipments such as the treadmill, multi-press, cross trainer, upright bikes, and many more. So you’ve got no excuse to laze around at all! Work off those calories and stay energized throughout your vacation – you’ll need all the endorphins you can get to explore Batam fully.
Every Wednesday, Thursday & Friday night, you can head to The Lounge for a relaxing time! We loved the fruity mocktails and jazzy tunes that had us tapping our feet throughout the night. They have live performances with “open-mic nights” where guests can shout out their song requests, or even go up and sing on stage! So if there’s someone amongst your travelling group who is a closet vocalist, you know who to sabotage and get on stage. ;)
You definitely can’t leave Batam without having a soothing massage session! There’s a massage area available on level 3 of the hotel that offers an extensive menu of soothing massage treatments – we guarantee that you’ll be thoroughly spoilt for choice. We hate to admit this, but we had such a good nap during our massage session!
That’s right! So if you’re craving for delicious pizzas with that crispy, slightly charred crust, Paris Lyon Cafe is the place to go. The one and only restaurant in Batam with wood-fired pizzas, right at your doorstep. How convenient is that?!
Oh, who doesn’t love surprises? Make sure you head to The Lounge and grab a glass of their unique mocktails every time you visit – the mixologists will constantly delight you with their quirky creations!
If you’re feeling a little homesick, don’t worry. For those staying in rooms facing Singapore, you’ll be able to spot buildings such as the iconic Marina Bay Sands from your room!
The hotel offers an Early Morning Allium Breakfast (EMAB) using a grab and go service system, so you won’t go hungry if you have an early flight! Starting from 4.30am till 6.30am, you can be rest assured that you’ll be able to get a sumptuous breakfast before heading off to the ferry terminal.
If you’re travelling to Batam from Singapore, you can choose to travel via the Horizon Fast Ferry service which runs 12 times daily, or the Batam Fast Ferry service which runs up to 4 times daily.
Both ferries take 50 minutes to reach Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal.
Allium Batam Hotel also offers a free pick-up service from Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal.
Shopaholics will be delighted to discover that Allium Batam is near to Batam Mall, Ramayana Mall, Diamond City Mall, Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall, Plaza Avava, and more. You can literally shop till you drop with so many malls within easy reach! Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall in particular, is the biggest shopping centre in Batam, with shopping, entertainment, and dining options all under one roof.
In addition, the Matahari Department Store sells everything you could possibly need, from clothes, to accessories, bags, shoes, households appliances and more! The basement also houses a hypermart, where you can stock up on cheap groceries if you’re intending to cook, as well as grab bargains on toiletries and necessities. Feel like catching a movie? Head over to the mall’s Studio 21 cineplex and embark on a movie marathon, with plush movie seats for you to relax in and give those tired legs a well-deserved rest.
There are also plenty of dining options available right beside the hotel, such as McDonald's, KFC, Martabak Har Indian Restaurant, Sederhana Padang Restaurant and others.
For an authentic meal, indulge in some delicious murtabak or mee goreng if you so wish! The traditional market is also located just across the hotel, so you can head over to explore at your convenience.
